Between the days
November 2021 Laneway Artspace, Bayswater
'between the days' chases that certain soft light at the start of the day, between rainshowers and on those elusive foggy mornings. Using desolate or nostalgic landscape scenes and structures in the rural areas of WA as a backdrop, the compositions are about the arrangement of light and the patterns of subtle shifts in tones as much as the roadside structures and telegraph poles that catch the light and mark the sweep of the gentle WA landscape. Ray shoots with a Pentax 67 and a 75mm lens, mainly with Portra 160/400 film. David works with oils on small boards working with limited colour palettes.
